Media Zombie...

Ever wonder why you have a hard time forming a thought of your own? Does you mind sometimes go blank, and in response you pick up your phone? We check our phones often during the day. It is like an impulse to log on social media,in order to gain information.Social media is not a reliable resource to gain knowledge. The media has done far worse instead we have become zombies.

Many people turn to social media to be informed of political information.Specifically,Facebook is the #1 viewed site for news. The truth is, it would not be wise to view facebook, twitter,or instagram for news nformation.Fake news is real. social media is not trustworthy Information.Popular sites today are sometimes false, and not completely accurate. We could also see very little information, compared to other media platforms.(Nicole Martin,2018)

Political news is important to many people.Political news are watched on cable television, radio,or print.Political news can also be watched on instagram, facebook, and twitter. There are many outlets to explore. With having so many options, young adults mainly use social media.Young adults are very addicted to their phones. They think it is the only source to use when following major topic.

Young adults who rely on social media, have less knowledge about topics such as the coronavirus. There have also been a decline on reading articles, which are loaded with facts and information.Instead young adults prefer to watch short video, and clips for stimulation.Statitics have proven that people from ages 18-29, are less educated.(Nicole Martin,2018)

Social media has given us young folk zombie characteristics. Zombies do not have thought,or any awareness of their surroundings.Similar to how we look at our phones, and have no clue what is going on around us.They feed on human blood and brains. The difference between us and a zombie is instead of eating actual brains, we feed on social media. We consume news like zombies, and never actually retaining much information.(Mason Rooney2018)

Social media editors edit what we can see ,and what we cant see.Their main focus is on our stimulation.Their topics are over exaggerated, and not completely true. This is why sources, and references are very important.Instead of consuming social media mindlessly,we should investigate, and research other reliable sources.
